Technical Session

GEO|Design+BIM for Smart Cities When delivering geo-enabled design and BIM in the context of a city, a building is never seen in isolation. It is always integrated with other infrastructure, such as the transportation system, utilities, public spaces, etc. And that's where the real challenge lies. Geospatial-enabled design and BIM collects and store a building's key physical and functional characteristics digitally even before it is built. This helps architects, engineers, contractors, and owners to see, prior to construction, what their design will look like and more importantly, how it will perform. This is absolutely critical for creating a Smart City. The session will discuss the contribution of geo-enabled design and BIM processes in various components of smart cities, i.e. energy-efficient buildings, sustainable transportation infrastructure, smart utilities, underground infrastructure, and others.
