With the increased interest and adoption in AECOO industry, BIM is now attracting interest from other mainstream industries, stimulating new applications and potential of BIM data. One example is in the gaming industry, where augmented reality is used to enhance its user experience. Indoor positioning is another, providing competitive edge to shopping malls, hospitals and airports. Disruptive drone technology allows automatic production of engineering-ready 3D models that are now a new fundamental dataset in design and documentation processes. The panel shall discuss more new age applications that can be generated with the use of geo-referenced BIM data, supported by trending technologies such as IoT, artificial intelligence, etc, offering the industry a wealth of opportunities.
