VU Amsterdam

The Spatial Information Laboratory (SPINlab) is the centre for research and education in Geo-Information Science at VU University Amsterdam. The mission of the SPINLab is to develop an internationally recognised research and education portfolio in the areas of Geo-Information Science and Technology. The lab is part of the department of Spatial Economics and is chaired by Prof.dr. Henk J. Scholten. The SPINlab is part of the Department of Spatial Economics, a world renowned institute in the domains of Spatial, Transport and Environmental Economics. The SPINlab applies a wide range of innovative spatial analysis methods and techniques to societally relevant issues such as spatial planning; cultural heritage management; adaptation and mitigation to climate change; emergency and risk management; and location valuation. In our research we aim to transform spatial data into information that helps decision makers in preparing, developing and evaluating alternatives. The lab is active in research projects in relation to: participatory planning; environmental impact assessment; multi-criteria evaluation and optimization; and the development and application of geo-ict tools for spatial planning.

Strategic Partners

Geonovum is a company funded by the government of Netherlands to work on the accessibility and integration of geo-information in public sector through standards development. The company also act as the linking-pin between policy and implementation of national geo-data infrastructures in the country.

Rijkswaterstaat is part of the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment and responsible for the design, construction, management and maintenance of the main infrastructure facilities in the Netherlands. This includes: the main road network; the main waterway network and the main water systems.
Rijkswaterstaat is working to ensure:

• protection against flooding
• sufficient clean water
• smooth and safe flows of transport on the nation's roads and waterways
• reliable and useful information

Like any other government agency in and outside Europe, Rijkswaterstaat is facing challenges to accommodate increased traffic growth, minimise congestion, maintain services in the face of increasing climate change effects, as well as deliver on environmental and societal objectives. Internationally, we co-operate with sister organisations, universities and a large number of European and overseas authorities and government agencies. Rijkswaterstaat takes part in several European research programmes.

BIM Loket

Bim Loket (The Dutch BIM Gateway) is the knowledge platform and the contact point for open BIM standards in the Netherlands. In BIM Loket, the many separate open BIM standard organisations work together. They are doing this because they strongly believe that open BIM standards are of vital importance of the wholesale implementation of BIM in the Dutch Building Sector. The standards empower technology developers to make complex spatial information and services accessible and useful with all kinds of applications.

BIM Academy

BIM has grown in a double rate during three years in a line due the increasing interest of the Building Sector in approaching the change of paradigm that Building Digitalisation is provoking. In 2016 has taught 4000+, has created 67+ specific learning programmes during 660+ hours for 18+ institutions and professional bodies. BIM is one of the three organisers of European BIM Summit, and collaborations with EBC-European Builders Confederation in Brussels, Àrea Metropolitana de Barcelona, Institut Cartogràfic i Geològic de Catalunya, buildingSMART in Madrid, etc. converted BIM in the reference in Spain and Europe as a Training, Assessment, Consulting and Organiser of high level and specific meetings. Its programs are certified by ACP-Professional Certification Agency and different institutions.

The Dutch Building Information Council consist of representatives of Public clients, Contractors, HVAC, Engineers, Architects and Product Manufacturers. The long time goal of the Dutch Building Information Council is the strengthening of the quality, continuity and the (international) competitiveness of the Dutch Building Industry. A joined effort of the different sectors of the Building Industry on introduction of BIM will serve as a flywheel for improvement of the Building sector. BIM will lead to better quality, more efficiency, cheaper, faster and more sustainability. Thus it will lead that working in the Building Industry will be more fun and to a more aware use of resources and the delivery of bigger social added value.
